Titmouse Birdhouse Plans

Build a safe and simple nesting space for titmice with these titmouse birdhouse plans, designed for creating a compact wooden birdhouse for small cavity-nesting birds.

This design features a distinctive sloped triangular shape with an extended roof, giving the house a clean, natural look while helping shield the entrance from rain and direct weather exposure. The plan includes a 1 1/4″ entrance hole, a 2″ x 2″ metal entrance hole guard, three 3/8″ drainage holes in the bottom panel, and a hinged roof that can be opened for seasonal cleaning and maintenance.

The birdhouse is built from 1×6 cedar board and secured with #8 stainless steel screws, making it a practical small woodworking project for gardeners, bird lovers, and DIY builders. The design also includes interior grooves on the front panel to help young birds climb out when they are ready to leave the nest. It intentionally does not include an exterior perch. Native cavity-nesting birds do not need one, and removing the perch helps make the nest less accessible to predators or invasive birds.
